Tom Boniface-Webb’s ‘Modern Music Masters: The Britpop Trilogy’ is a contextual deep-dive into Britain’s favourite bands
It’s not just music reviews here, we’re coming at you with a book recommendation today. New Zealand based author Tom Boniface-Webb has released his overtly insightful trio of Britpop books “Modern Music Masters – The Britpop Trilogy: Oasis, Blur and Pulp”.
Written back at the beginning of lockdown in March 2020 – and then released later in 2020 – the series delivers content of what was going on in the world at the time that these three Britpop legends were at their peak.
Touching on subjects such as how the bands were formed and on the contextual history behind album production , the insight offered into each group is captivating and a must-read.
“There are few [music books] that have such a focus on the charts as well,” states Boniface-Webb. “Each release is put alongside what else was in the top 10 that week. As well as a historical document of the time, these books are a total nostalgia fest for those there the first time around.”
Easy-reading and accessible, this is a series that should be in every music lover’s bookcase.
