‘Punch Drunk Sober’ by Throws
Punch drunk sobriety is something we’re used to here on Booze and Reviews, so we were immediately skeptical about this track…
Fortunately however this quirky pop song from Icelandic duo Throws isn’t a teetotal anthem. Instead it’s about finding sobriety from a hostile relationship, comparing the relationship to a violent drunk’s relationship’s relationship with alcohol. Nobody likes a violent drunk.
‘Had enough of this Punch drunk love, I’m sober’ cries the hook. An eclectic mix of eighties synthpop and indie rock makes up the instrumental backdrop, the vocals delivered with Bowie-esque weirdness.
Throws new self-titled album is out June 10th.
